Default ECU Differences

I'm kinda new to the whole Honda tuning thing. I know they spin like mad, make mad power when boosted, and get awesome gas mileage. But can someone tell me whats with all the ECU number/letter combos? Like p73, p50, etc. What does that mean? Is one better or worse? Any help would be shweet.

Default Re: ECU Differences (200kCivicSI)

the identify the engine the ecu was originally made for

p73 = itr
p72 = gsr
p30 = jdm b16

etc.

using an ecu from one engine on your engine wont give you any sort of gains without tuning. and you wont need tuning without significant mods.
