Default ECU again

I know this has been posted before, but can someone tell me why you should reset the ECU after an engine component change. Doesn't the ECU constantly adjust based on the readings it gets from all of the sensors ? I have installed an AEM CAI and did not restet, car runs good and the gas mileage is where I expect it to be.

Its a myth. The ECU adjusts itself and theres no need to reset it.
O know alot of people SWEAR it makes a differance..but it doesnt.
