Default ECU chipping Q-only for the experienced.

When i sent my ecu (p28)out, they didnt change the fact that it was an auto ecu going into a manual car. I read the hondata site and it says to change this all you have to do is remove the resistor from RP17 and jump RP18. I noticed today that they both have resistors there. So do i just remove RP17 and dont worry about RP18, since it is alread 'jumped' with a resistor there? I figured i have a better chance in getting a response here than in the NA forum of CSI. Lets see if im right

Zdyne has a pretty good section on the Auto to Manual ecu conversion.

Stick with H-T, no other board compares.

When reprogramming any vtec or non-vtec 89-95 AT ecu to MT/5speed spec, all that matters is that the newly programmed eprom HAS to have a MT/5speed program burned to it. Once the 5speed eprom is applied to the AT ecu, it becomes a 5speed ecu. Removal of any capacitors/resistors/etc is NOT necessary in converting an AT ecu to MT/5speed spec. Unless ZDYNE has some special parts they add for their own specifications.

It's all in the eprom's programming that takes control of the ecu --
eprom = the brain.

Well, I sent my auto P28 out to get a hondata stage 2 on it, and it has the cel #19-automatic something..i forget. Something about the auto tranny. If you look on hondata's website, and download the instruction manual, thats what it says to do. Maybe cause its not technically like chipping it? I opened it up, and i think im gonna try what it says. Doesnt look too hard.

Off topic,
What’s up with ripping on the NA forum at CSI?? It’s the only forum on the entire site that is not wrapped up in all the CSI "drama”. “Some of the best NA tech heads that spend a great deal of time in the NA forum are now on this site.

If you are going to rip on CSI rip on the rest of the site. The NA forum is still a decent forum. We just lost a lot of the knowledgeable people.
