Default Manual - Auto Ecu Interchangable?

I know that on some vehicles they are and i was wondering if their is any difference and what they are. Sorry if this is a repost.. i did a search and nothing.. Thx

Yes, they are. I gained 6 Hp and 2 lbs Torque when I switched from a p28 to a Accord ecu.

well, auto ecu's can be converted to 5 speed.
they are interchangeable, you'll get cel's and depending ecu you'll get a lower redline. Why would you want to put a auto ecu in a manual car or viceversa?

I would just assume tune the stock one via Hondata, VAFC, Field, etc. Or go with a standalone engine management system.

Theoretically all you are doing is changine a few basic engine functions when you change an ecu so why not change them yourself to optimize what you have rather than using something that was designed to run something else. Also, if you have the ability to tune the ecu, then every time you modify the car, you can further tune the car to work with each additional modification.

you can use a auto in a man car you will have a cel, but will run. you can't use it the other way around, unless you get it chipped to convert it to a man. autos have lower rev limits too
