e-brake light problem
My ebrake light stopped working. It comes on while im cranking the engine tho. this is in a crx. Any help on how to try and fix this would be great cause I dont even know where to start.
There should be a cheap little switch down by the handbrake lever somewhere. I don't have a CRX, so you just gotta look around.
The switch closes the circuit to ground. If it's only got one wire, unplug it & touch the wire to ground. If that makes the light turn on, then you've got a busted switch.
If it's got 2 wires, one goes to ground. Make sure it's not disconnected or rusted. Otherwise deal with the other wire the same way as above.

Trace the wire back looking for power. Could also be a bad bulb or connection at the instrument cluster. Porbably not the bulb since you said it lit during cranking, but sometimes a filament will be broken and flop around. Probably the wire got pinched or damaged somewhere along its length.

So does that mean you got it fixed? Was the ground open?
If not...
I know you said you didn't think the switch is bad, but use a DMM to check it. That's the only way to know.
Unplug the 2 wires at the brake fluid reservoir, plug them into each other. If that makes the bulb light up (ignition on), then you know it's somewhere 'below' that junction in the circuit drawing.
