Default DPFI to MPFI Conversion Problem

I converted my 1990 Civic Dx to MPFI and it just so happens that plug B12 on the ECU already has an existing wire. So I followed the instructions for the conversion and I'm still having drivability problems. Hard starting, runs like S*** and it won't rev past 3500 rpm for some mysterious reason. I think it's probably running in limp mode from a code that the ECU is throwing for a screwed up crank angle or cylinder sensor. They're both located in the distributor and it's brand new. Would anyone happen to know what the wire that's sitting in B12 is used for? I've done this swap before and never had a problem but none of them had ever had a wire in pin B12 and this is the only thing i can think of that's screwing everything up. Anyone ever have these symptoms happen before?
