i'm about to swap in a b18a1 and tranny out of a 90 Integra RS. the motor has 187489 miles on it. i'm going to be drag racing it and was wondering if you guys thought that a stock motor with mileage that high would last under the abuse of drag racing. i do plan on getting a new water pump, timing belt, and clutch before the swap. does anyone recomenned doing anything else. i've heard that you should do something called a compression test. is this true?

Common sense will tell you any motor with that many miles is prone to have issues with any component... Things break/malfunction from wear and tear all the time... Just keep up with maintenance jobs and it might help prolong its life.

My d16y8 has 180k+ miles... several diff things have stopped working. To say if your motor is going to last is unpredictable.

 

I wouldn't even count on this motor lasting another 20K under normal driving conditions.

Go for a lower mileage engine.
