dead cycilendr HELP! tried everything !!
my boy has a 91 crx hf and it has a dead cyciender #1 cyciender it gets spark but its dead .. and we did every thing from new injector to changeing spark plug wiers and all that good stuff .. need help its still dead
comprssron is good in all cylinder all match up , injectors are new , new fuel filter , new fuel lins and new plugs , has spark but it still dead in number 1...any thing elses we missed ???
blown head gasket usually shows up on a compression test. hmmmm.......
try a leakdown test. If it's for sure getting spark, and you're sure the fuel's good, then something has to be bad w/ the compression. Or the fuel injector's clogged/dirty.

aiigth ill peep that and see , but yea the injector is new and i also put my stethascope to the injector and it was ticking like regular , but still its dead cylender .... im confused .. could it be the distribuber throwin a clod spark in to the block but still puting out spark in the pliug wire ??? idonno
i can guarantee you if you have compression, fuel and spark you will have combustion. compression is straight forward and you said it was good. if you have injector drive and a pretty new injector you should be good. i would suspect an ellectrical missfire or no spark. put it on an igntion scope and see what you have.
Hmm.. Usually if I can't figure out a misfire problem and I know that I have compression, spark, and fuel, I take the Valve Cover off and see if the Exhaust Valve is opening while manually cranking the engine. Because air has to get out for the engine to make power.. (big air pump)
But that's just me..

could have a broken rocker arm...
also, are you sure cam timing is OK? yes, this should affect all cylinders but just a suggestion.
If you are certain that spark and fuel are present and at correct timing, I would recommend removing valve cover and inspecting valvetrain.
again, just a thought...

Do a cylinder leak down test. If for some reason theis cylinder is looseing enought compression for is to miss a leakdown test will pinpoint where the fault is. (Valve, rings, headgasket etc.) If that checks out okay, make sure your injectors are fireing. Use either a noid light or pull the fuel rail and injector assem out and crank the engine. If is sprays fuel you know its working. If that also checks out, and you have spark, I have seen a rod bearing cause a missfire. Not a dead cylinder, but a missfire.
