d16 build up
i'm gona start building my d16 soon and need to start ordering parts. i am gona go all motor and a 100 or 150 shoot of nitrous for the track. i'm planing on getting the blocked re-sleeved and installing a block guard. i'm cheap so i'm just gona get some ls rods and have them shot peend. but i'm not shure about pistons, i was just gona get some zc pistons (again, because i'm cheap) but i wanna run a bigger shot of nitrous now so i think i need better pistons. i'm also wondering if i should upgrade my O rings and barings. do you think this needed or are the stock ones ok?
so this is what i need to know:
1) what sleevs should i get, how hard are they to install, and what is a good price?
2) what pistons should i get, will they work with the ls rods, and what do they cost?
3) do i need to upgrade my O rings and barings?
oh, and do i need a block guard or do i evan need to sleeve the block for nitrous? or do i just need to upgrade the pistons and rods?(but remember, i'm a cheap bastard)
Thanks in advance.

Um, just a question..... why in the hell would you get your block sleeved, and then put in a block gaurd? That just defeats the purpose of getting it sleeved... and it prolly wont even work..
the purpus of having it sleeved is to stranthen the block, and a block guard helps keep the cylinder walls from cracking under pressure. thats whay the hell i would do that.
Well first of all, you want to use 100-150 shot on the Nitrous and have an all motor car? You have experience with nitrous before? All motor means to me, high compression. And high compression and nitrous isn’t really a good idea. You have to set a boundary on how much compression you might be able to take. With that much nitrous, you should think of keeping the compression close to stock since its already pretty low. Go higher like 10:1+ will be riskier with 150shot nitrous.
You wont need a block guard when you sleeve. We have sleeving services and they run about $880 for the works. LS rods are still kool but the nitrous factor is what is iffy, you might invest in some eagle rods at least. And then again, you want budget pistons.. you’re going to melt those ZC pistons. On the bearing and other stuff, ya you have to replace all of them when you rebuild the block. If you are going to do this, at least get some Arias/JE pistons. And you need to redo all the bearings.
What you are doing and being “cheap” is not a good combination. I say better lay off the nitrous, save up some more money so you can do it right, and learn more about you plan to do. All the things you plan to do are not really the best combination for a build up.

I agree, Call up goldeneagle and find out how much it will cost you to get your block sleeved.... and a block gaurd will just wear down your walls faster... if you get your block sleeved from golden, it can stand up to 30psi i believe.... which is enough for a 100-150 i would think... block gaurd is a waste of money IMO, personally id say turbo it, since your gunna sleeve it anyway... get a good kit and you can get great numbers...

Block gaurds can cause cooling problems. Cheap can work but, you may be pulling the engine shortly down the road when you blow it. Drop a few hundred dollars on some pistons made to withstand the heat.

Like said above what your trying to do isnt going to happen using less than sufficent parts i would definitly go with Arias pistions with a compression a little lower than stock and some more beefy rods than the Ls ones. Also like said above sleeving and using a block gaurd is pointless.;
