Default new all motor lsv build with a shot of dope questions

ok so as i was hoping to reuse these ctr pistons i had in this lsv long block i just got, i realized as i was taking the rings of them that EVERY SINGLE ******* ringland was cracked in about an inch section and fell off the piston after i took the rings off them. ALL of them. not just one. so scrap that idea...and yes do not worry, i have already checked the cylinders and they are fine. as well as the head, i cleaned up the seats up with a brass wire wheel brush attachment via dremel. then proceeded to lap the intake valves.

so now that my dreams of using those pistons are now shattered, (i even bought rings for those ******* too!!) im going to throw a set of cp 12.5:1 pistons and eagle rods in the block and run them with a 100 shot of nitrous. my question is, what specific steps should or do i NEED to take when installing pistons like these? these are a 700 dollar set of pistons so i do NOT want to **** this up and i want to get it done right the FIRST time.

im debating weather to use the dial gauges to get the timing set
clay the motor if not
shave the rocker arms
port the oil pump
port the head
run the lines/nozzles on the under side of my manifold
etc

any help would be appreciated. ill update as i go through the rest of the motor and clean/replace anything i see that needs to be replaced.. i.e. pumps, gaskets, bearings, seals etc.

Have a machine shop check the bores and hone the block. Have them measure piston to wall to make sure that it is properly set up for your application per piston manufacturer specifications. Have the piston rings professionally file fitted to insure proper ring gap.

I would go with a bigger bore and lesser ratio piston and oversized flat valves, in order to run a more aggressive set of cams with that 100 shot. But thats just my .02

Well, here's the deal, I've been also toying around with the fact that running a thicker head gasket may help in the ratio dept as in terms of lowering the aggressiveness of compression and save face for the p2v clearance as well. How does one check for p2w clearances?

Check piston-wall clearance with a micrometer and dial bore gauge.
