Custom Gauge Mounting....?
Hey,
I have a 93' Del Sol (https://honda-tech.com/forums/forced-induction-16/93-honda-del-sol-si-turbo-2543783/) and am considering mounting my gauges ( Boost, A/F Wideband, Oil Pressure) above the rear view mirror similar to this picture :
So my question is should i do something Similar but not the exact same ( I in no way will copy someone else's design)
Please comment and vote in the poll

They make the A pillar because its cheap and easy. hence why EVERYONE has it.
You can see that unless you also think you're rear view mirror is useless because you can't see that.
Thanks for the comments

Been a popular way for the ford full size trucks to mount gauges for years.
I would either put *important gauges* in pillar or in the view plane of the cluster or pillar and put secondary gauges up top.
Reasoning is focus and depth perception, potential looking up even for that split second could result in a accident, maybe even liability who knows, good luck tho.
It gets them out of the way so you don't have gauges cluttering up the interior. At the same time they aren't positioned so that you can check them at a glance. I'm sick of the pillar pods but they're easy, cheap and an effective location. Another good spot would be on the dash but you'd have to make a nice pod for them so you don't look like a ricer.

That's a damn near idiotic place to mount gauges. Eran & v.i.gsr have good suggestions.
Personally, I don't think gauges are there to look cool....they're there to allow you to keep tabs on what's going on with your engine. If you're banging on your car, do you want to have to look at your rear-view to see what's happening? Personally, I think your focus should be between the road and your main gauge cluster. At least with these mounting opitions, the gauge is in your field of view. Yes, "everyone" has pillar pods...b/c they accomplish the most important objectives of mounting gauges.
If you can't see them without moving your head from the road or cluster, it's a waste.
BTW, v.i., where did you get that Din mount? It's nice! I like how they're angled toward the driver.
