Default gauge mount in vents... a few questions

car: 1993 civic si hatchback

I am thinking of mounting like a boost gauge and maybe oil pressure or some other types of gauges in my vents. The two vents right next to the hazzard switch. so heres my questions.

1. Can i mount like a plate over the blower or w/e so it doesnt blow heat to the back of my gauges...

2. Have people done this before? I will create a thread in the appearance forum too, but if you feel like posting pictures so i can get an idea of how people are doing this it would be great.

im thinking just take out fins and stuff and mount a plate or something, then cut holes for gauges and so on and so forth.
Thanks
-Ben
