Default cranking flywheel threads and machining

Long story short, I ran into a dilemma with my crank where one night I was pulling into my driveway and next thing you know **** started scraping inside the trans. So I thought it was the clutch the way it jerked when I first started it up in first gear, and made that noise.

I took the transmission out last night, and the clutch to see what the hell was going on. Clutch, Plate, and all the bolts where fine. As I go to set the clutch and **** on the table, I go back to the flywheel and see this.

2 Of the threads are ****ed inside the actaul crankshaft., and I wanted to see if I can go get it re-threaded at a machine shop or run a tap through there. I know those are very fine thread.

I really don't want to take apart the whole motor as I will have to buy new gaskets and **** so I was just wondering if I can just take it to a machine shop or do it myself ?

that crank is going to need to come out if a machine shop is going to do anything with it.. you're probably just as well off to get a good used crank to swap in. sucks.

What do you mean fcuked? Are the bolts broken in there or are the threads stripped?

I agree, pull all the bolts, re-tap, [chase] the damaged hole and replace any damage bolts use Loctite and properly torque all the bolts into place. 94

But if the thread pitch is stripped how could he retap it with the same size pitch? Wouldn't he have to go bigger?

That depends on how bad they are stripped and how far into the bolt hole the treads are stripped.

Even if the treads are stripped beyond chasing them out, you would not re-tap with a bigger tap you would Helicoil it and use the same type/size bolt. 94

So just get a tap and die kit, and chase those threads through there, you guys know what size that actually might be ?

M12x1.0

i don't think that size will come in a normal metric tap set. it would need to be ordered unless the OP has a very well stocked hardware store nearby.
