Icon2 Correct crankcase ventilation for b20vtec???

What's up guys, before anyone starts bashing me saying that this has been covered before, I've been searching for hours and cannot find an answer to my question..... I have a built top to bottom b20vtec engine... It's built for boost ( low compression) but it is not going to be boosted for awhile .
I'm running a t1 race development catch can with 2 hoses from the valve cover and 2 from the block..... I want to know is this there such thing as too much crankcase ventilation?? I've noticed a small loss of power... And should I run one return line to the block? Thanks everyone.

Ok thanks and do I necessarily need to run two return lines to the block?

you dont have to run a return line. you could simply use all four as vents and drain the catch tank periodically.

i really dont think the catch can has anything to do with your "loss of power". thats something entirely different.

Well there was a noticeable power loss right after a installed the catch can.. Its was actually faster when the crankcase was pressurized. The two lines i have from the block to the can is the drainback. I wanted to know if i could use just one line. And hopefully i gain a little bit more power back. I was told that there will be a powerloss when i install the can and it wouldn't be noticeable compared to a v8. But I can feel the difference lol. And also after getting on it the top of the can has oil on it... What would be causing that?

the filter on the can is probably saturated with oil from the vapors. try changing the filter.

also if you have the option id plug the block vents and just use the valvecover vents (hopefully there is still some sort of baffle in place). the back of the block tends to send more oil through the can than the valve cover from my personal experience.

that said my n/a lsvtec has the prelude 1/2" fittings from the block only.
my boosted 2L gsr has the valve cover onlly, as the block vents would fill the can wicked fast

I agree, the block vents are where the oil drains back from the head and the pressure will bring it right up to the catch can. I run one big -10 line off the VC and that works just fine.

could you put a one-way check valve in the "return" line to prevent oil from traveling up the hose?
