compresion test???????????????????????????????
I have a complete b18c1 motor with ctr pistons. I want to do a compresion test to see how healthy my motor is. What numbers should I see on my gauge? Any help is greatly apprecated.
cool thanks. ok i just got home from buying the compresion tester and im gonna give it a shot. it says to unplug the dizzy, pull the main fuse for the fuel, block the throttle wide open, and remove ALL spark plugs. does this sound right? any tips? thanks in advance
ok this is what i got. #1cylinder-#4cylinder:
280...283...285...280
it took about 7 cranks to get these readings. 1st crank the gauge read 160, 2nd was 210, 230, 250, 260, 270,(280-285)
what does this tell me about the condition of the motor? is there any way to calulate the c/r with these numbers? why did it jump to 210 in just 2 cranks and then take 5 more cranks to gain about 70psi?

Sounds good, as long as they are all within 10 PSI of each other. I should have remembered that my CTR's in a little 1.6 were 220.
280's should be right. CTR's in a b18 are something like 12:1 - 12.5:1 (can vary with head gasket, valves, machine work, ect.) if I remember correctly
