Default coilover compression question

my friend says that if i get fround control street coilovers that i would need a shop to compress my stock springs to get them off. i thought you only need to compress them if i plan to put aftermarket springs, not for coilovers though. someone help me. putting them on civic coupe 98. also, if it is true, then how much would it run me to put coilovers on?

Youll need a compressor to remove the stock springs from the shocks. But not to reassemble with the GCs. An a side note, i would not recommend running the Ground Controls on stock shocks. Itll blow the shocks in no time and it will ride like crap. Just my .02.

well, my plan is to drop about an inch for now. will the shocks still go with that? if i get shocks, my plan is to get KYB AGX shocks. So how much will it cost for someone to take my stock spring and replace them with ground control coils?

Just wait until you can do it right; ie-shocks too. Its going to suck with GCs on stock hocks, ive told this to 2 of my friends, who didnt listen, and they regretted it. You are gonna have to pay 2x labor also. My suggestion would be to rent a compressor from AutoZone or some place and do it yourself. Its a no brainer job. Good luck

YEah, its like $40, but they give all your $ back when you return it, so its basically free.

You don't actually need them to remove the springs, but it's safer if you do. I personally have never used one to remove the springs. I just use the old aim and shoot method, and it works every time. I just did my brothers this weekend and it worked fine. You also don't need them to install lowering springs or coilovers. Just my .02
