Code 90 WTF???
Car is a 99 Civic coupe DX. I was driving home today on the highway and CEL comes on. I get home and check its code 90. Evaporative Emission Control System leak detected in the fuel tank area. What can I do to fix this? I have no clue where to start.

Is it code 90 or is it 91, or 92. I have never seen people with code 90.

in anycase the first thing you want to check is your gas cap 9 times outta 10 that is what your problem is.
If you just had your car smogged lately disregard that since a gas cap test is part of the smog inspection
there could also be a leak in the evap system that would cause that code to pop up as well
worse comes to worse take it to the dealer i believe there is a special tool to check the pressure in the gas tank
Goodluck!!

yeah i just had the emissions done about two weeks ago... Geez I can only imagine what the dealer would charge to fix the problem... they'll tell me they have to drop the tank, new fuel pump, etc... and then the problem will come back in a month...

As a former Honda Tech , Honda's PGM tester has a program to run EVAP test
to help pinpoint specific area of problem. with out that your kinda shootin in the dark. So if you can get ahold of a PGM tester and an Honda repair manual and Honda ETM book. It is very easy to diagnose and repair the problem.
My advice would be go to the dealer go into the shop find the youngest looking tech you can. tell him your problem, then say Ill go buy you lunch and bring it back to you, what would you like. If hook a PGM up to my car and lend me a book.
to help fix my car.
If I was the tech I would help you.
But there is not much I can do not seeing the car in person
Good Luck man I hop you get it fixed
