Code 14, IAC valve problem
cel flashes code 14, iac. so i proceed to swap out the iac for a new one and the code still shows. car wont idle alone and in order to keep it running, i pull off the vaccuum line that runs into the intake manifold from the fpr. any other ideas what i could be?

yup, reset it and it still comes on. turned up the idle adjustment screw and the car idles now with vaccuum lines back in place and i can drive around for now but IAC cel still flashes.
could it possibly be a clogged hose or ripped vaccuum line to cause iac to flash? anyone?

take off the iacv and spray it with carb cleaner it could be dirty. did you test the iacv to make sure it clicks?
the fitv if you have one may also need to be adjusted.
let me know if you need to find out how to test the iacv.

I don't think there are any vacuum lines that go to the IACV; just 2 coolant lines and an electrical connector.
But, it wouldn't hurt to check that you don't have a clogged, cut, or missing vacuum line somewhere else.

FITV should only be found on automatics. IACV on manual transmissions.

not true. my car has the fitv on it and many others as well.
some will have one, some will have both.

interesting. I wonder what determines a car to carry both of them. Maybe up-to a certain year they had them...could have changed with OBDII?

OBD-2 IACV together with the OBD-2 ECU work together to do the job of the FITV. Since you're using an OBD-1 ECU it isn't telling the IACV to raise the idle. (I don't know if it's possible to add that function with Hondata.)
</TD></TR></TABLE>
so i assume no obd2 cars will have the fitv.
also to the thread starter, have you tried adjusting the idle? if your disconnecting a vaccum line in order to get it to idle normally you may just need to increase the idle speed.

the FITV and vaccum isn't the source of the problem if code 14 is being thrown by the ecu....its obviously the IACV.
There are coolan lines leading to the IACV, but if you delete these or have no coolant lines leading to the IACV, the ecu will NOT throw a check light for code 14. I use to have this setup on my B-series.

have you performed some kind of engine swap or intake manifold upgrade on your car recently?
Did you unplug the IACV sensor and forget to plug the sensor back into the harness?
What make & model honda do you have?
all of this info is needed in order to help fix your IACV problem...

recently did a gsr swap and it ran flawlessly with no codes. one day it decides to shut off at a intersection and flash cel 14. swapped out the IACV and the cel continues to flash. Turning the key results in engine turning over, starting, and immediately dying out. after new iacv is installed...same issues. adjusted the idle set screw so the car will idle but the cel is still there. IACV harness is plugged in tight. 97 gsr swap into 92 eg si and showed absolutely no codes prior to this. just cant get rid of this cel for some damn reason. if i keep adjusting the idle set screw on the tb, will the cel shut off? does the car screw need to be set at a certain idle to not flash the code? sorry guys....but its been a rough road with this car

no, adjusting the idle adjustment screw will not shut off teh check light for the IACV.
Perhaps the wiring pins for the IACV became loose or undone. Take a look at the IACV wiring at the ecu plugs and at the sensor plug.
Maybe try a different ecu for ***** n' gigglesto see if that is the cause of hte problem too...
also, are you using an OBD1 to OBD2a jumper harness? if so, perhaps this could be the culprit....
