Default clutch problem

yesterday on my way to work my tranny threw it self out of 3rd gear, i tried to put in into 2nd to slow down for the turn. the shifter went into 2nd but when i released the clutch it felt like it was in neutral and could rev freely. later on i tried to start it in first and it just sounded like gears were slightly grinding. im thinking it's something in my clutch assembly

i took the tranny off and the clutch looks fine, it's has plenty of meat left on it and all the springs are still in place.

so now im thinking that there is something wrong with the tranny. then spines and everything look good. and when i turn the input shaft it spins the shaft output or w/e. in will spin in every gear.

im about to crank open the tranny to make sure everything looks good. i have a feeling the differential may be out...
