Default click noise in distributor

well i went to check my distribyutor the other day bc ive been have some idle problems and when i took the cap off i found that the screw that holds the rotor on had come off and was resting inside.....so i went and put the screw back in with some locktite and when i went to go start the car again a now hear a clicking sound coming from inside the dizzy. the noise was not there before , but now it sounds simalar to the clicking you can hear when you listen to injectors......anyone have any idea what this could be?

I would change the cap and rotor. I suppose it's possible that the screw was bouncing around in there, and of course that wouldn't be good.

alright i changed the cap and rotor and i still have the clicking noise....any other ideas

hmmm. . . how much play is there in the 'shaft'? it's possible there's something wrong there too. . .

no play in the shaft....when i get out of work im going to take it off and take the whole thing apart

The bearing inside is probably going out..

The heat generated from the bearing failure ususally
is the cause of the srew coming out..

Was there a dark red dust inside the cap?

You can usually find the bearing at NAPA if
you can find someone to look it up in the catalog
by the actual size..
#6001-2ZJ is the number I used for a B16 unit...

i appreciate the help....but there is not dust inside and the noise that im hearing is not a bearing noise

check the shaft that the rotor is attached to for play by simply wiggling it in and out and back and forth. There will be a slight amount of rotational play.
Also, is that mystical 'cover' inside the distributor making contact with the rotor maybe? It'd be weird but possible I suppose.
