Default Cel Code 43

I've done a search and it's fuel system related. That's too broad. I was throwing code 41 (O2 heater circuit), I put in an old O2 I had laying around. Now, it's throwing code 43. WTF. What is it? Fuel filter?

code 43 is almost ALWAYS a bad O2 sensor.

i've had it three times, and each time (different cars) a fresh O2 fixed it right up.

good luck.

So when you put in the other old sensor you got 43, and NOT 41? Then a new sensor probably will fix you up. The preheater (code 41) seems to be fixed by putting in the other sensor, but then the actual O2 measurement is bad. So both your sensors are bad, but in 2 different ways.

I yanked the O2 that was throwing code 43. I double checked my O2 sensor that was throwing the code 41. I knew there was a short somewhere (since 41 is only the heater circuit, not the O2). Sure enough, one of the black wire had been completely sliced apart by the fan. I'm going to solder it back together tomorrow and see what happens.

Well, I connected the the wires together and no check engine light yet. I went test driving it for about an hour.

Cool. Lots of times its the actual heater element that's busted. Sounds like yours was just a broken wire.
