okay heres the thing my 2000 Si has 12000 miles on it. THe other day the CEL light came on and my idle is a bit high now. sometimes around 13-1400 RPMs. When i give it some gas right under 2000 rpm it would lope....(goes up and down really faast....) and its buggin the **** out of me. can anyone help?

nope...nothing at alll. the only thing that was changed was the airfilter...but even when i change it back to stock....it still does that. I am clueless....help me please..

 

You can pull the IAC off and clean it with some carb cleaner, if that doesn't work you probably need a new one.

 

With the engine not running, ignition on, unplug and plug back in the IACV connector. You should hear a click. If not, check for about 12 volts at the connector. If that's OK, the IACV is most likely toast. If it does click, might need cleaning. You could try a total reset of the ECU by disconnecting the neg battery cable or pulling the ECU fuse for 10 seconds. BTW, you'll need your radio code if you've got a stock unit to reset the radio. After everything is back together, start the car and let it idle about 10 minutes without touching the gas pedal.

 

hey thanks alot guys. OKay this is what ive done so far. I went and check if it clicked and yes it did click. I did the voltage check and see if theres power coming from it. I did and it said about 11-12. I tried cleaning the connections or watevers...Now im gonna go drive it for awhile see whats gona happen. Thanks alot guys!! ho wmuch is a new one anyways?

 

okay i left the car on for 10 minutes and nothing...no light or anything. I drove it for about 15 minutes and the light came on again. What is up with it now? SAme code...same thing happening. Is there anything else i can do to fix this? I was happy for awhile that it was gone but now its the same old thing...help me please!!

 

try to swap another IACV in that's known to be working. It only takes 5 minutes to replace.

 

****, join the club homie, me and civicryda are having the same problems i replaced mine and i still get the code and a fucked up idle

 

at this point, check the wiring, and if that doesn't help, swap ECU's with someone and see if the code is still there...
