Default CAn this head still be used?

Long story but can this head be used it's a pr3-3 from a 00 civic.

Has slight damages as pictured it will be used for a 700-800 whp build and I want to know if I wasted money on junk.

Yes, it can be used. Smooth all the sharp edges into a nice radius and have it decked. If you are uncomfortable using it I am sure someone on here would be willing to buy it off you for $100 (pssst PM me).

Yea really don't wanna use it just for peace of mind.

But I would rather send it back to the seller and get my money back then sell it for $100.

I guess what I'm looking for is an expert to tell me for sure but I suspose for that I would need to bring it in person.

Nope, but it isn't rocket science either. If you wanted "experts" you should have posted in the Drag Racing forums. I have had this same exact issue with a head before on a 600whp build. Just going off of past experience and insight from more reputable "experts" that I won't name. Just trying to help guy; it is just funny to hear someone on a free public forum asking for an expert is all. Just made me laugh.

Yea your right man it's not rocket science. I was prob just being paranoid but I did what you said and cleaned it up. I don't see how it would effect and aspect of operation.

Thanks for your input and I am being genuine.

It will most likely cause pre ignition, I would NOT use it that way, but I'm no expert.

Looking at it, the marks missed the head gasket mating surface but it definitely and obviously hit the valve seat wall at one part.

A Machine shop can put a new seat in and pressure test it and also check the RA of the headgasket mating surface.

Once all those check out, it should be just fine for use.

Looks like something got dropped into the cylinder and ran (nut/bolt maybe?) or something broke and flew in while the engine was running. Bet it made one hell of a racket and probably why someone ebay'd it.

Good luck with your paypal dispute, that was pretty douchebagged of the seller.

At the very least, before the machine shop takes care of the valve seat(s) on that side of the cylinder, maybe they can tap out the peaks of the marks. Not sure if the peaks can create mini hot spots being you want to run it way past stock parameters.

ive never hit those power figures, even in my old Supra, but personally, I'd NEVER use a head that has sustained THAT kind of damage. You never know where micro fractures have started and beating it with 700hp wont be kind to it. just get a better one.

If you were just going to throw it back on something stock, I wouldn't hesitate to hit those spots with a sandpaper roll on a die grinder to smooth them out and run it.

Throwing $800 (or whatever) on CNC porting and building a race head out of it would make me think twice on using it.

The upside of the low price isn't worth the potential of chamber wall issues at a substantial increase of pressure/heat that you will be applying with 700hp. Personally, I would start with another one for as much time and money you plan on sinking into it.

I got paypal to refund me after I returned it back to the seller.
So problem solved but I still had to fork over $60 for shipping.

However I got my buddy to hook me up with a complete 99 si head, dorm cheaper than the other. One

Thanks for everyone's insight.

Sounds like it worked out for you in the end (kinda). Always pisses me off when you do a dispute and have to pay shipping back. How is it the buyer's fault that the seller misrepresented the item. The seller gets the item back for nothing; they should make them pay shipping and maybe they wouldn't list **** wrongly... Good luck man.
