Default Can a DX get VTEC?

Hey everybody I was wondering if I put a 96-00 EX head on a 97 Civic DX. Changed the CAMs and put in an APEXi VFAC or a stock EX computer would VTEC work on it? Is there another way of doing this? Or does it just have to be a complete motor swap.
Thanks,

Matt W

Would you be able to give me a little more detail of what parts need to be swaped?

Thanks
