Default Cam Installation

Is 175 a good price for installing a camshaft and adjusting valve lash? The cam is a zex 59300 stage 2 cam and the car is a 93 civic hb with a d16z6. Just drop in, no springs, retainers, or cam gear yet.

It depends upon where you're getting the work done. At a shop or dealer that's probably somewhat reasonable, but if I were doing it for you I'd feel bad about asking for that much. If you're relatively comfortable working on your car and have access to a decent selection of tools, you might just want to purchase a repair manual and try to make a weekend project out of it.

I feel that's even a little much for a shop/dealer. I would do it for no more than $100 or I would feel bad. $50/hr. for general labor @ 2 hrs. tops! The way I look at it is you are getting charged damn near $90/hr!!!!!

175 is steep. personally i would pay closer to 100 bucks, but if i were to do it for someone else i wouldn't even charge that much.

Honestly - if you have tools and the factory service manual - I highly recommend doing it
yourself. Just pay attention to detail in regards to the pulley marks/timing. Follow the directions
and you will be fine. It's fairly straightforward.
