just put a socket wrench on the crank pulley and turn it till it wedges.
Then it'll hold in place while you loosen then cam gear bolt.

Most Honda cams have a hex cast into them where you can use a wrench to hold it. If you can't find that, then most cams also have a hole cast into them that's used to lock the cam at TDC while in the head. This hole lines up with a hole in the cam cap, and you insert a 5 or 6mm punch to hold the cam in place at TDC. You can theoretically use this hole to hold the cam while loosening the cam gear bolt, but be advised that there have been cases of people snapping this piece off of B18A/B cam caps, so be careful if you have an LS. The B series VTEC heads have this hole in a thicker part of the cam cap cover plate, so it isn't as much of an issue. If you have access to air tools, then an impact wrench would probably be your fastest option for removing the bolts. Just make use you use something soft to wrap around the cam while holding it in place, preferably with a vise or something.

Isn't there a hole in the cam gear that you can stick a screw driver through and lock it up against the head ?

D series have a hole.

thats cause there isnt a spot on h22 cams

when i took my cam gears off i stuck a wrench through the gear and lodged it under the cap next to the gear where it has the bolt for the VC, but to tighten it i wouldnt know my cam gears have the key cast into it so i wasnt able to install my jun gears

You can buy keys at the hardware store or Auto Parts stores.
