hmmmm, just curious y u would want to blast it when you are gonna PNP it right after, seems like an extra step to me but maybe its late and I'm having another brain fart ..... i could understand if it has some kinda coating on it but head generally dont so just clean it really good and PNP away.... BTW not a good idea to do your first PNP on the head yoe plan on using ..... I'm sure ppl can agree on this ! practice makes perfect ....

If you need to ask that question, you prob should not be porting a head; but to answer, you do not need to do that..it is an extra step that is not necessary..Do you have tools to do the valve job?? Or the proper tools to port a head..We use very specific tools at machine shops..

Good luck to ya..

The valve job is important... but... shouldn't he be able to take the head in to get the valve job done and work out from there?

There really is only one way to learn how to do things, and paying other folks to do them for you isnt' it.

Porting should be taught by someone at a machine shop, as I was taught..You use certain techniques and port certain areas in certain ways for different setups..a good machinist will ask you detailed questions about your setup before porting to maximize yours..its not just simply carbiding the ports until they are shiny and smooth..N/A setups and turbo setups can optimize porting in different areas of the head, but again, this is a learned process if it is to be done correctly..As for the valve job, the car won't run (or for long) if not done correctly..

So, check with a machine shop before taking on such an endeavour..its not as simple as a bolt-on if it is to be done properly..
