Default JG HEAD!

Alright so im posting this becuz ive heard nothing good about this shop, and unfortunately I didnt do the research before I bought the head. I bought a gsr JG head port and polished, and with JG's complete valve train. I bought it with 0 miles and for a relatively good price. I haven't gotten the head checked at a machine shop, but i want to hear some feedback from you guys. Is this head worth even getting it checked? how good/bad is their valve train? I have read many threads about Javier's shop being shady cuz he never ships blocks/heads, I have the head on me so thats not the problem, I dont really want to know about how he has screwed ppl over like that, I want to hear from those that actually have used his heads or have seen his heads in use. Will his head hold up a good 500hp easily without worrying about it giving out? I need to make sure before I slap the head on my block. please give me some feed back

well if you were only shooting fo 500whp then you should have just left it a stock head or some dual valve springs and thats it. you dont need to touch a vtec head untill you trying to extract every bit of power out of the setup ie sfwd or outlaw car

Well I didn't explain myself, I'm going to run a setup to push 500 whp, to get used to the power and learn how to drive a turbo car, and then I'm gonna go bigger, so my block and head are fully built (sleeved, pistons, etc...) but the I need feed back on how jg heads have worked for others

the JG head will work perfectly fine....even if it's not ported as good as some others it will still make the power you are looking for. like turbo-ls said even a stock head can make those numbers. im sure that head will be perfectly fine.

ive had jg's valvetrain on my car for about 2 years no prob... there was fake stuff floating around ebay which was failing due to aluminum retainers etc but if u got a pro-series head odds are its good to go..might wana get it checked out @ a machine shop for extra insurance tho..doesnt hurt.

Yea this is a real jg head, it has the serial number and his stamp, now me=adrian did u have ur head checked after u received it from jg? Was it assembled by them? And how much power are u running on ur setup with no problem? If I decide to go bigger with power cuz I do plan on doing so after a couple month of breaking my self into a boosted car, what can this jg head hold up? I plan on goind like 700whp later, will jg's pro head hold up?

A friend of mine bought a JG head not too long ago and its been nothing but problems. First off apparently JG shaves all their heads down to the limit, and this head was shaved uneven. Then a valve job wasnt done with the port and polish job and I believe one or two of the chambers were oval shaped. He tried to contact JG a number of times but no response. Head is now at another respectable head shop getting everything fixed....

I've ran a jg head for over 5 years with no problem. It's the fully built one with the single valve springs. I ran ipg v1 cams with the jg valvesprings and rev up to 10.5k rpm. I wouldn't worry about it too much.

I have a jg head on my lsvtec setup. With a smaller turbo on the last setup the previous owner made 550 whp no problem. I have the motor and am going with a bigger turbo then he had.

Several years ago JG was thee name in Honda/Acura performance. If your car was fast and breaking records, then you were most likely running a JG head, cams or some other product. Unfortunately some poor business decisions lead to a downward spiral that eventually compromised the quality of work and craftsmanship coming out of that shop. Shady business practices and cutting corners to save a few bucks didn't help either.

For peace of mind alone I would have it inspected by a reputable machine shop.
Could save you headaches in the future. Good luck.

Alright I will have it checked. Thanks you guys, but just to make sure after having the head checked, the only rhing I should not worried about is if the valves are sealing correct? Cuz it has a fresh port job and head has to be heat cycled for it to seal correctly? Cuz if I have them lapse valves it will hurt airflow after head been broken in. Right?
