Head polishing...tips or suggestions
I figured that as long as I have the head off my car I should do what I can to the head to improve performance. First of all I know nothing about porting and polishing heads and I don't want to even try porting the head I simply just want to polish everything up. I've done valve face and seat grinding before so I know my way around a head well enough but I don't know enough about flow rates and port matching and the like so my question is would I even gain anything by polishing the head...its a stock B18A1 by the way. My buddy just picked up a Dremel drill so thats where I got the idea to clean up the head. Any tips on materials and procedures would be greatly appreciated.... Thanks
Honestly--if its a stock head--you really won't gain anything (and you might hurt the flow) by polishing. If you want to get good head work done--find out who you feel does good head work and take your head there. Its really not worth it. Thats my opinion anyway.
Thanks, I think I'll leave it alone. There's nobody that I'm aware of in northern Minnesota that does port and polishing...I'm sure there's shops around that will do it but what kind of job will they do? Oh well, I don't want to mess with things that I don't fully understand. Thanks
''polishing'' will pretty much do nothing...
you could improve casting flaws though; blending seats, getting rid of any sharp edges on the bowl, etc..
