Default bubbling coolant overflow tank

when my car is running, and warm, there are bubbles that constantly come out from the overflow pipe into the overflow tank.

i have bleed the cooling system twice but am unsure wether it has been successful...

is this what causes bubbles in the cooling system or is it something bad like exhaust gas?

the engine sits just below halfway on the temp gauge when at operating temperature.

thanks for tips/advice,

t..

any ideas?

its usually a fucked radiator cap not bleading off the pressure and letting the resovoir into the radiator.

Bubbling indicates a blown head gasket. Especially it the bubbles increase when you rev the engine AND they have an exhaust odor.

so a dodgey radiator cap could be leaking air - would this mean that there is air in the system?!?

or HG leakage of exhaust gas?
BUT:
no overheating, no oil/fuel in coolant, no white cloudy smoke from exhaust...

i have bleed the system 3 times, once warm and twice cold.

when bleeding, the coolant comes out of the radiator as the engine warms up and it doenst really seem to get the chance to bleed the air out before getting too messy.

could this be beacuse of thr difference in height of the radiator neck and bleed hole as my setup is a complete custom situation?

what height should the radiator and bleed nipple be at realative to each other?

rainforest will know...

thanks,

t..

A blown head gasket need not be so severe that the engine is overheating or even losing much coolant.

my vote is for the head gasket...but honda head gaskets are real strong so i dunno.

i guess i just see to many crappy nissan's blow thiers and thats the first sign when they go...
