I just checked my overflow tank and it was empty What the heck could this mean? I know I will sound like an idiot, but where do i fill the coolant back up? Just fill the tank? Please help me, ive never dealt with any coolant related issues before.

let the car cool down, on the top of the radiator your see the overflow cap, twist that and than pull it off. fill up the radiator until it over flows. fill the reserve tank up to max line. btw its not to good for your car to run without coolent.

I would first try to find out where all the coolant is going. Then if everything checks out top off the radiator if it needs it and refill the overflow tank to anywhere between the min and max line. Then bleed the system of any trapped air. Your manual should tell you how to for your particular engine. Or if the coolant hasn't been changed in awhile do a complete flush.

If there was very little or no coolant, you would overheat for sure which could lead to a warped block/head/melted pistons or any number of horrific things.... but if the car runs fine and wasn't overheating I think your engine just ate up the extra coolant in the resivour...
but like we said its a good idea to see exactly where that coolant went, check all over/under the car for leaks, do a compression test, leak down if possible.
