the black plastic piece(like a cover over the end of the injector) at the bottom of the injector!

ive heard people say it runs fine w/o the insulation stuff at the tip. Anyone know what the cap exactly does? protection from heat?

id have to say, it's gonna leak. my friend bought a swap and he had a small leak coming from around the injector. we figured it was the orings, pulled them out, and bam, tip was broke off the injector like you are saying.

-Erik <--- time to get more injectors....

It's okay to run without the plastic cap. The same thing happened to my injector. I emailed some injector servicing places and they told me its okay to run without them. Just remember to remove all of the plastic pieces so it doesnt fall into the engine.

correct, if im reading right, your referring to the lower portion of the injector correct? If so thats the pintle, it protects the tip from damage is all. Just be careful not to drop it. one of my 450's is missing one as well. runs without a prob...

Same here. That's just to protect the injector. It will run fine w/o it. There's no way that could cause a leak. Leaks are caused by O-rings.

i clean injectors in my work, and i can tell you this, you can buy those things and just switch it, or you can even get it out from another bad injector (another DSM) and switch it.

It's ok to leave them on if they are a lil cracked, but why not change it, it shouldn't be that expensive anyway...
