Cracked tip dsm injector still usable?
I recently bought a set of dsm 450cc injectors and upon arrival one of them has a broken black tip. It's the small black plastic tip on the side that injects fuel that cracked and fell off and exposing the small needle tip.
I just want to know if I can still use it for turboing or do I have to get it replaced. Any information is helpful. Thank you.

it will still function fine, its just that you dont want the plastic piece to break off. i had 2 of my dsm's with broken tips in my car for a few weeks with no problems. i would probably not do it again tho. id say try to take the piece off, so it can fall off while driving

That is the pintle cap...it being carcked or missing does not mean the injector will not function. It is there to protect the needle impact/damage.
The plastic gets brittle after a long time living in the fuel and heat environment. They can crack easily when the injectors are old and have the original caps. They are usually replaced when an injector is cleaned and re-oringed. If it bothers you that much you can get new pintle cups from a fuel system shop.
I've used DSM 450's without the pintle cups before without any issues.
The cap has no effect on the performance of the injector though. Now if there was other evidence that it was dropped then I would wonder....but I bet you will be fine.

Thanks all for the info/feedback. I think mine were cracked open in transit, the pintle cap cracked clean open and fell off, far as I can see, the needle tip is undamaged. Even knowing it won't affect performance, it still nags me. I'll have to think about it a bit and decide what to do.

actually, i had a broken pintle cap...i think my engine ingested it...the car's fine though....more than likely it went out to exhaust...
just take the cap off, then run it...should be fine.
