Default body seam sealer?

I'm going to be installing an autopower 4-pt roll bar soon and wanted to caulk the backing plates with some body seam sealer to keep out moisture and rust from occuring, but don't know where to buy it or what kind? I went to a regular auto parts shop and they only had bondo and when I checked out Home Depot, there were so many kinds I wasn't sure which one would be ideal to use. Anyone have any brand recommendations? Thanks!

Have you checked with local body shops to see what they're using?

I'd recomend going with a top name brand like 3M or SEM... they seem to be used most commonly by automotive repair facilities...

3M makes the one that we use called "Fast and Firm". I'm not sure how many types they make. It works well in our applications, but i think you would benefit from one with some flexibility, as i've seem our 3m one crack sometimes. If I were you I'd put any brand of a silicone sealant, so it stays flexible in any climate and condition.

silicone sealant doesn't work well for me. It seems like after awhile, it doesn't adhere anymore. Can someone describe to me what the 3m sealant is?

Does anyone know what stuff the oem uses and professional body shops use? It's in a bunch of places in the engine compartment and it's usually painted over.

Thanks for the advise, but I couldn't find what you were talking about.

I was looking at 3m's site and I don't see it.

Please check for yourself and see if there's anything similiar.
