B18B1 LS Engine Help
Hey guys got a question for ya'll and need an answer from the experts.
My 95 Civic EX has a fully swapped B18B1 with a GSR Hydro tranny. The previous owner had the LS VTech head on it and to my knowledge probably blew it up and put the non v-tec head on which is running my car now. It is also been set up in his previous days for turbo. But I don't exactly know what the previous owner has actually done to the motor, but just as a mild guess I will say its all stock, except for my headers, JDM intake, fuel rail and throttle body that I put on myself replacing the original USDM parts.
Now to get to the question, I have purchased some crane cams, stage 2, and was wondering if my drive train is stock could I run those cams in my car without upgrading my springs, retainers, and valves. A really good Honda technician told me I could as long as I don't hit seven grand on my rpm range, is this true? The only main concern that I have is if I do this will I throw something or snap a spring?

so you bought the cams before you even knew if you could use them. genius.
I've seen B18B's revved past 7k numerous times. is it healthy? no. is it impossible? no. is it going to blow the engine? no.
I wish I had a JDM intake.
install the cams and see what happens, maybe you drop a valve, bend a valve, maybe you put a hole in a piston.
or just maybe... just maybe, when you hit 88mph you blast into the future.

Well the only reason I bought the cans is because they were being sold for a stupid low price, then I called crane came and they are what they and the guy who sold them to me said they are. Yes In defiantly gonna upgrade my drive train, ie. dual springs, retainers, high compression valves, etc, but wanted to know if they would go in now cause the seller told me they would, so instead of just listening I wanted expert advice first. Now, so you guys don't think In an idiot, i will upgrade my engine first. But worst comes to worse I can always sell them and almost not loose out at all. Anyone need cams?
