Default b18 block and b16 head??

hi. im new to this board and kind of new to honda. i got a 98 vw jetta vr6, but always like honda and the jdm styling. always wanted to get an ek hatch or coupe and swap either a b18 or a h22 into it. never really had the extra money as it all went into my one pride and joy anyways, i scored a free b18c1 motor. its all good with pretty low miles, but it has bent valves and it was overheated. i already have a new headgasket, and it costs $50 to resurface it (if i decide to keep the head), so that takes care of the overheated problem. now, i heard of people using a b16 head on a b18 block. is that any better? any body running this setup? or, should i just buy new valves and call it a day. i dont have a body or tranny or wiring or any of that, but i figured a motor is a good place to start, especially if its free. so, help a brotha out with some knowledge

I would just buy new valves and call it a day. If you use the B16 head, you'll actually end up losing a bit of compression, plus the stock cam profiles aren't as agressive.

is there any point in investing in some aftremarket performance valves, or will the stock one do just fine? also, i havent looked into the pricing yet. about how much do they go for, each?
