b16 head on b18c1 block need advice
i have a b16 in my car now but i have a b18c1 block laying around that i have been working on. after i finish the block i would like to throw on the b16 head from my motor onto the b18c block. my concern though is that my b16 head is a 1st gen head kinda old. right now it has type r cams from my blown type r motor but the rest of the valve train is stock. all the motors i keep blowing are mostly because of floating valves and i know that this is caused by bad valve springs and what not that cause the valves to stick open.
b18c1 block
i need advice on how to go about upgrading the b16 head for the b18c1 block to make it really reliable and to be ab;e to take revs up to 8700 reliable for those mis shifting days or what not. can anyone help me out?

Re: b16 head on b18c1 block need advice (Red CiViC Hatch)
no i dont want or liek to rev to 8700, but when i power shift and have a ecu with no rev limiter the rpms tend to sky rocket to abtou8700 when i shift and i wold like my internal parts to be able to handle that. plus the parts in a 1st gen head are really old i think and i would like to freshen up things a bit in there.

If you slap a B16A head on a GSR block it will lower compression a little (I believe it will be close to 9.5:1

You need to upgrade to at least type r valve springs. The CTR cam has way higher lift then b16 cams. I would even upgrade to Type R lost motion assemblies as well.
If you really want to rev as high as you say you do, get some aftermarket valve springs and retainers.

yes you would think that you would have learned to upgrade your valve springs by now but i guess you havent.
Go ahead and rev to 9K on stock b16 springs with R cams and see if it doesnt happen again. Just upgrade to R valve springs and you should be fine.
Also i would reccommend dithcing your old ecu and getting a rev limiter put in!! It still bogs my mind why people want to remove there revlimits if they now there car cant handle not even 9Krpm so then why risk it??
