Default b16a1 vs b16a2

i am rebuilding a hydrolocked b16a2(obd-1 grey plug)
and i am looking for a new block!
my question is is there a difference in the blocks of the b16a1 and the b16a2(i am talking about just the bare blocks with nothing in them)

Well, for one, there is no such engine as the B16A1. I guess you are refering to the OBD-0 JDM B16A. It runs 10.2:1 CR and with its PR3 pistons. 160HP

If you're talking about a real B16A2, then it's identical to the OBD-0 B16A (same pistons and output) except for some manufacturing improvements, cams and OBD-II. It was only found in the 1999-00 Civic Si. 160HP

The OBD-I JDM B16A came with P30 piston, perhaps some better manufacturing processes and made 170HP. It is not a B16A2.

Newer blocks tend to be higher quality.

there is a b16a1 here in europe it came in the civic/crx 90-91 it has 150hp!
it is obd-0 i think!
mine is a b16a2 obd-1 from a 92-95! i also have a head off an 96-98si (dont know if it´s obd-1or 2)
but photec3 is there a hole for the knock sensor in the obd-0 block or is it from another cast?
so the only thing i need to look for when i get block is that there is a hole for the knock sensor?
thanks for your help guys
