b16a vs b18b
your opinions? i have both motors... the b16 is in my hatch the b18 is on the stand.... and i would be using the y1 open dif tranny on both motors...... HELP!!! o i guess the question im asking is how would the b18 stand against the b16.... and its b18B so... you know, thanks
it really depends on what type of motor application setup you are looking to go for
high compression=b16 good for NA apps
LOWER compression= b18 a/b good for turbo/superchargered applications
if you are going turbo definitly the b18 it loves boost already has lower compression ect
also the transmission you have has longer gears which will go good in the b18 for boost... out of all the transmissions for the jdm b16 the s1 xsi is the shortest and my opinion the best. its basicly the type r transmission of today. however the y1 is good too bc of the diff

also the displacement of the 1.8 would be good. but the compression would be a killer with NA. so building up the bottom end of the 1.8 with high compression pistons and b18 head will definitly yeild you more torque...... also if building up a motor is what u are looking to do
get a 1.8L sleeved to 84mm with a ls 89mm crankshaft which will = 2.0L of displacement & get high compression pistons like 13:1 and you will have a killer setup
