I guess my language isn't clear but the jist is there anyway. Here's what I meant...and yes I meant no machining and just swapping.....

1. "all Bseries rods fit on B series cranks EXCEPT THE B18C's"

what I meant by this is :

The B16A, B17A, B20B/Z rods can be interchanged with any B17A, B20B/Z, B16A crank.

The B18C1 and B18C5 rods are thinner so they do not fit the B16A,B17A, B20B/Z crank. No straight swap.

And by extrapolation -

2. "All Bseries pistons can fit any B series rod EXCEPT B18C's"

meaning:

B16A, B17A,B20B/Z rods can be interchanged with B17A,B20B/Z, B16A piston.

The B18C1 and B18C5 pistons are thinner and hold a thinner rod, so the B16A. B17A, B20 B/Z rods do not fit these pistons, as a straight swap and go (in other words you mill the rod ...I thought it was 1mm on each side but since Katman's site is THE most referenced site and he says 1.5 mm then we'll go with 1.5 mm) .

wrt 3. " any Bseries crank fits in any Bseries block"....

I meant you can put the crank in. What rods and pistons you choose are dictated by the above 2 rules. I think we are on the same page Katman.

Now I have to modify the rules by adding B16B to my exceptions and so it goes with the thinner rods and pistons group : the B18C's.

I want to thank my friend Tony Lam who works at Honda for setting me straight on these rules but Tony did not have access to JDM parts....CTR (B16B) in other words.

So the B16B rod is thin at both ends like the B18C's but longer than the 137.9 mm B18C rod. B18C-EJ1 told me they were 142.1 mm in another thread and I didn't believe him...but he was probably right if you say they are the longest Bseries rod!! That makes the B16B rod ratio = 142.1 / 77.4= 1.84 !!!

BTW the older Prelude crank is identical to the B20A which has a 95 mm stroke...crappy 1.41 rod ratio though....

Thanks Katman.

B16B rod has to be the longest since the stroke is short but the block is tall.

Older prelude IS a b20a. Unless you mean a different older prelude that has
a crank out of a b20a.

yeah but what IS the dimension of the rod ?

I got more evasive answers in the Integra Type R Forum than a bunch of Johns caught in a whorehouse.

At least the Civic forum guys gave me numbers and not some song and dance run around. sheesh!
