you gotta get custom rods and pistons. if you do stay with the b16a crank plus you have line hone everyhting

I thought the B16 and B17 blocks were essentially the same? They have the same deck height. Am I missing something here?

B16A and B17A blocks are the same dimensionally, it's just the internals and the block stamp that make it a B17A. You can drop B16A crank/rods/pistons in it and it will be a 1.6. You don't need custom rods or pistons if you are using all B16A internals.

Thats true if you destroke it ... but you still have to line hone the main caps to match the crank or your freaking spin some ****

thats wut i thought....hmm. Are u sure about this? cuz i have just cracked the sleeves on my b16a block and i found a pretty cheap b17a block. I was just gonna swap the blocks and use all my b16a internals.

Is it expensive to line hone the main caps?

please explain to me why you'd have to line hone the main caps in a B16A/B17A block to put B16A crank in it?

YES you could. I did the reverse with my old engine.....B17A internals in a B16A3 block. I bought all new bearings and rings though when I did it...but everything worked just fine.

I have no idea why B18turbo says: Thats true if you destroke it ... but you still have to line hone the main caps to match the crank or your freaking spin some ****

I didn't have to do that and my engine ran fine up until the point of my car getting stolen, so there.
