Default B16 turbo detonating

I have a 93 hatch with a b16 turbo with ls pistons, running 10psi. The car is base-tuned by my friend with crome, im not sure how good the tune is, but the car does run. I have around 1500 miles on the motor, and ever since i broke it in, it had been detonating, so i retarted the timing on the dizzy, im not sure what degree its at because i dont have a timing light, but i figured it would fix the problem, well it didnt, it still detonates above 5k rpm. Do you think i should retard the timing more or is it a different problem, im new to the boost world so any help would be great. The car doesnt have a knock sensor, but the chip doenst read one, should that make a difference? Thanks alot

make sure the plug gap is .27-.28 most common prob for det. also u may need to advance the timing until u get it tuned, try it see if it helps.

if its disabled it shouldnt read it, why dont you get crome, open that bin your read made you and look it over, reset your initial timing, then take some timing out where the motor is having problems, or possibly it could be afr related, who knows without a wideband or having seen the maps your just in the dark.
