B Series swap into an EK | Wire harness and ECU question
So I got my hands on pretty sweet GSR swap from a friend. I'm new to the whole B Series world
Swap wont be installed until this weekend. My question to everyone is:
1. Can I use the Harness that came with the swap and use a P2T (Si) Ecu?
2. Or am I better off using an Si harness with the si ECU?
3. Or Should I run either the Si/GSR harness with a chipped P28 or P72 ECU?
4. Would I need to get a step down (obd2b to obd2a to run either of the options I questioned above?
I was told that I can't use the ECU that came with my swap b/c the GSR it came from had an immobilizer and this wouldnt work well with my car.
Just looking for some answers/responses.
Thanks in advance to anyone who answers

I am pretty sure you can
2. Or am I better off using an Si harness with the si ECU?
GSR ECU has butterfly. Not too sure about si
3. Or Should I run either the Si/GSR harness with a chipped P28 or P72 ECU?
P28 is OBD 1 so you would need a jumper harness. P72 ECU would probably be best
4. Would I need to get a step down (obd2b to obd2a to run either of the options I questioned above?
I am pretty sure that the Si is obd2b. Not too sure about the GSR but I can look

1.Use ur stock harness and modify it, or find urself a 99-00 SI engine harness
2. Better to use a obd2a p72 for the gsr but since ur car is 00 which is obd2b u would need a obd2b p72 which comes with immoblizer that u have to remove from the ecu or ur check engine light might come on.
u can get urself a jumper harness from obd2b to obd2a and run a 96-98 p72 ecu which doesnt have the immbolizer
3. this helps out alot http://technet.ff-squad.com/

Re: B Series swap into an EK | Wire harness and ECU question
So I guess my best bet is to get the Si Wire Harness and the P72 without the immobilizer and pick up a step down.
Hopefully this works. Thanks

the si ecu will work also. and dosent come with an immobilizer.
if you do use the obd2b-obd2a jumper harness, you can also source a jdm p72 and not have to worry about an immobilizer and a host of annoying sensors, 2nd o2 sensor, crank fluctuation sensor etc.
i use a jdm p72 im my 97 ek hatch with a b16a2. works great.

Re: B Series swap into an EK | Wire harness and ECU question
will the d15z6 vtec-e harness plug straight up on the gsr motor?
will it crank?
since the gsr engine harness is 2piece and ek is 1piece
i also have the gsr engine harness, incase i need to cut and solder and plugs off it
im also changing the stock intake manifold for a blox im gsr fitment

Re: B Series swap into an EK | Wire harness and ECU question
I really need some help... I'm from the Caribbean and my 1996 EK3 Civic had a CVT transmission that went bad and my car has been down for 2 years. I just bought a 91-95 Civic which has a DOHC Vtec engine. I bought this to get the gearbox to switch my car to manual. The vtec engine looks really clean. How hard would it be for me to swap this engine into my EK3 Civic? Help much appreciated !
