Default GSR SWAP HELP!!!!!

what ecu could i use for my 97 ek? i have the 2000 gsr ecu but one of the plugs do not fit. Should i cut off the plug on my car and the plug from the donor car and rewire it together? Also, i heard that the car won't start because the gsr ecu has immobilizers. Is it possible to disable the immobilizer? Is it just easier to get another ecu? If so, which ecu? Is it also easier to get an ex harness to run vtec? Would the ex harness fit the p72 gsr ecu?

AHHHH SOOOO MUCH trouble with this swap...already! and i didnt even swap anything yet either.

HELP!!!

the problem youre running into is you have the wrong obd.

youre car is obd2a while the motor and ecu are obd2. the quick and easy solution for this is to piuck up a 99-00 si harness. itll be plug and play with your new motor.

good luck with the swap.

Or you can use a 96-99 GSR ECU to plug and play with your harness.

Vtec Pressure switch C15
Vtec solenoid A8
Knock sensor D6
IAB solenoid (B18c) A26

the pressure switch and solenoid areon the front left side of the valve cover and the knock sensor is on the back of the block under the intake manifold. im not sure about the IAB because that is only on the gsr.

now the tricky part is if you ahve a jdm motor you will not have a vtec pressure switch or crank flucuation sensor.

this also saved my sanity many times and online version of the helms manual:

read that page i gave you above.

or you can just pick up a nice set of hasports.
but you still need the rear tranny, and the si upper tranny bracket. adn the gsr front lower tranny bracket.

FAWK! the hoses from the gsr are too big for the d16 one and the d16 hoses dont bend right. the stupid dx harness is all bent outta shape....my buddy lengthened just about every pllug. we converted like 4 plugs...i hope thats right...welp going back down to try and start it sooooooooooon. NO FUEL HOSE!!!! DAMN IT!!! my **** is like 2 inch short and my bike is stuck between the garage and the car...no ride 2m to work!!!

Dude all you gotta do with the radiator hoses is use a screw hose clamp and clamp it down alot and it will work. If it leaks you might just need new hoses. I dunno about the dx harness but with the one on my 96 ex all I had to extend was the vtec wire, O2 sensor, and the IAT sensor. I used a 96 p72 ecu and it pluged right in. Though now Im prob gonna switch to a chipped p28 soon. Also I put a skunk2 manifold on so I didnt have to wire up the secondaries.

BTW: If you want to make your fuel line work all you gotta do is bend it a little and/or flip it around and you gotta take that wierd metal piece off that prevents you from putting it on the opposite way. any questions let me know...

thanks man...ok i got the car running and all...open header!! CEL is on...b/c of the secondary o2 sensor is missing. ok...it's a shitass job for wiring, but it seems to work fine right now. also, how do you make the throttle work? i just put hella spacers to give it enoguh slack, but not enough to get a full throttle pedal....not like i need it. but there's a lot of slack left. do you kno why is the rev limiter at 7thousand? i'm running a 97 gsr ecu on a 2000 gsr motor.

waht i did is i found a junk harness in a junk yard, one that was for the most part destroyed, and used wires and ecu pins off of that. all i did was pull one of the plugs out of the ecu and splice a wire to the vtec solenoid to that.

vtec is just a single wire. do you have the motors origional wring harness?
