aem cai intake help
well i cut it for a bypass valve but decided i didnt want it so i ordered the silicon connector. in ther mean time i used just one piece of it so it was basically like a short ram. today i got the connector and put it on so now i have a cai. well it drove like **** and had less power than the stock airbox and my car died when at a stop. the short ram drove fine. what could my problem be im guessing it is not related to the intake itself but i could be wrong. help please
I doubt this is it but disconnect your battery or ECU fuse for 10 minutes to allow it to reset itself then start it up and let it idle for 5 or so minutes and take it for a spin.
If your disconnecting your battery make sure you have your stereo security code handy.

Is it a dramatic difference or is it loss of power in only a specific RPM range? If so then that is expected with a CAI, your top-end should be alot nicer though.

i checked all my connections i think. no it is a dramatic difference. i have it cut for a bypass valve like said before. just a little while ago i took off one piece off it and made it into a short ram and that has more power than the cold air. the only other mod i have is a 5zigen fireball axle back. and now it is making a crackling, popping noise when i accelerate. this doesn't happen when i decelerate or downshift though??????

It's really weird dude, are you sure your mind isn't playing tricks with you? Check to see if you have a good seal where you took out the bypass valve. Other than that there is really nothing that would be taking away hp from your motor.
