EVERYTIME!! I ruined my oil pan by not changing it. A hundred dollars out of your pocket or 50 cents, your choice. You might get them for free, last time I got one the guy gave it to me for nothing; maybe he liked my face.

It is called a crush washer. It is soft aluminum and is crushed slightly as you tighten the drain plug, it helps to create a tight seal. If you reuse the washer you will eventually started to strip the threads on the oil pan itself. I was stupid and ignorant when I first got my civic ( my explorer did not have a crush washer) and did not replace it. I changed my oil probably three times before I ruined the oil pan.

You can get them at any Honda dealership for pretty cheap. I don't know if your Moroso oil pan will make a difference, but I would get the washer to be safe.

I'm skeptical, too... I re-use mine a few times then get a new one. But they're pretty cheap. If you cross-thread the bolt, then you can't blame the washer for that.

I replace it every time. Yeah, it increases my operating costs by $0.00005/mile, but it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy, so I splurge.

(And I'm not making that number up, either.)

Listen you ****, I blamed myself for my stupidity. Good for you *******, I am really ******* happy you've never had a problem with it. Use a washer or don't use a washer, In all honesty I don't give a **** what you or anyone else does with their washers. Go stick them on your thin little ****. I gave my recommendation.

btw: I never mentioned that I bought the car used with 120k on it. It may have been the previous owners fault. But I don't go around blaming anyone other than myself.

Damn man, calm the hell down. I'd hate to see what you do if someone commented on something you said in real life.

As for replacing the crush washer, I bought about 20 of them at once just for the sake of having them, but I've never replaced the washer and it's never leaked. Use a torque wrench and don't over-torque the bolt; that's how you screw up your oil pan.
