Adjusting my Skunk2 coils
Alright... I've about had it. I just got 18x7 wheels with a 215/40 tire, and I'm trying to adjust my coils so I have a nice drop. It's been such a pain in the ***. Everytime I adjust one coil, it effects the drop on the other three coils. It's ridiculous. Total, I've spent about 3 1/2 hours adjusting these *****, and I finally got the car to look pretty even. It was a little low, but I thought I'd be OK. Nope. I rub in the front, and I tried raising it, and now all the coils are uneven. I'm about to do one of two things. 1) Pay a mechanic to adjust them on a lift for me, or 2) sell them and buy lowering springs. I'm not sure which to do. Would a mechanic even have an easier time than I did adjusting them? And, I don't drag where I'd have to fine tune the height of my car. And I really don't think I'm going to drop it for car shows... (MAYBE raise it for winter, but I'm not sure). I basically just want a nice looking drop that gives a good ride. Any opinions? If I do go with lowering springs, what's a good spring for the rim and tire combo I have?
Be patient...it takes time. I adjusted my Ground-Controls when I put them in and it took me three weeks! I did my friends just the other day and it looks pretty good so far. Here are so tips to get you along.
1) Make sure you are on level ground
2) have 3/4 to full tank of gas
3) adjust one corner at a time no more than three turns
4) drive around the block alowly weaving like your trying to warm up your tires and accellerate fast once or twice and brake kinda hard once or twice
5) ....do it all over again
Once you get it close, drive on it for a week then check them again. Chances are the spring will "settle" and little and you'll have to raise the car a little.
Hope this helps.

That would work in a perfectly balanced (L-R) car but not necessarily in this case. It's a good staring point though. Just as an example, the engine sits more on the drivers side of the car and once the driver is in the car it's even worse. The weight of the driver will drop the front-left another 1/8" (about) and a little in the rear. Once you get close, only change one corner at a time, one turn at a time.

thats always works fine for me, and ive lowered over 50 cars.

Count the threads, it works for me. When they make the springs they dont think think about left and right balance, they dont make left and right springs. What if you wanna take a fat girl out? Getting the back and front the same might take a little more effort but I always do left and right the same threads. Some autocross people use scales to make the weight each wheel supports the same, but thats too harcore for most people, especially if your just worried about the car looking even anyways.
Alright, that's what I'm gonna do. When I was lowering my car, I had two friends with me. One of them said we should just count the threads to get an even height. I agreed with him, but the other kid (who is into autoxing), said we shouldn't because each corner's height is weight dependent. Obviously he's much more into the equal distribution of weight thing more than I am. So, I'm just gonna count the threads. Thanks for all the help and advice.
