*TUNING* Never seen this happen before! HELP! -CROME-
So heres the story. Last year i got my car tuned at a professional shop (RS Motors) in Minnesota. I had a chipped/socketd ecu from phearable and i had the plug and play apexi VAFC obd2-obd1 conversion harness. The guy at the shop tuned my car on Crome and everything went well. No problems in the tuning. In the last month, i've made some additional changes in my that i'd think require re-tuning. 2.5 piping, v-stack, IB intake mani, etc. A local guy here i know tunes car so i decided to let him retune my car. He tuned my friends 467whp del sol, 300 whp civic hatch, and a few more cars so i know he knows what hes doing. So it was my turn, i put my car on the dyno, he hooks up his laptop and all that to my ecu, I start the car...check engine pops on, car revs up and down non-stop. We plug my chip back in, everythings normal, then he hooks his laptop back in with all my setting on my previous chip and car starts to rev obnoxiously...**********HELP!!!!!!
How is the tuner connecting to your car?
Is it via just the 4 pin connector or is he also connecting via a chip emulator at the same time. It happens some times when you go to place the rom from the computer onto the ECU via a chip emulator in crome.

i believe its the chip emulator... he plugs a thing into the place where my old chip used to be and connect it to his laptop. We never got to tune my car that day, cause it'd act up everytime he plugged his stuff in.
he had something like...

Your tuner would be the one with the problem, it's not your ECU if it runs with the chip in it. Your tuner should know what to do if he puts one of his bin files on the emulator and it causes a solid CEL. With the solid CEL and hunting revs that sounds like the checksum hasn't been removed from the ROM/bin file.
What did the tuner tell you the problem was? If he told you it was something with your ECU I wouldn't go back to him. Take your car back to the original tuner and get him to do the re-tune.

He said he has no clue what the problem can be. His conclusion was either because im running the Apexi VAFC with Crome or because he has Crome and my previous tuner ran Crome pro. I dont have great knowledge when it comes to tuning. Ill ask him about the "checksum" thing. Thanks for the reply man, anything else u can come up with?

Get him to put your bin file (untouched) onto the ostrich before he plugs it in to your ECU and then verify that it is on there. Then plug it in to your ECU and start up the car.
Why are you running a VAFC and a fully capable chipped ECU?

Its just for looks you can say and minor quick adjustments at part-throttle for idle.

I believe he did do that, but ill double check

there's a possibility he has a buggy/old plug-in, such as boost tools or fuel tools, which I have seen cause problems you have described.
