Default Romulator-Program relationship?

I have ben reading for the past couple of nights about tuning my car, as it needs to be done soon and I am seriously considering trying to do it myself, and I don't understand what the relationship is between a Romulator and a tuning program like Crome. It just seems to me that if you change a setting with the romulator that you would just burn that setting onto a new chip. So where does Crome come in? What am I missing?

Crome, eCtune, SManager(Hondata), Uberdata are all ROM editing software. Without these there is no tuning or changing of any file on the EEPROM chip. The Romulator/RTP/Emulator is the hardware that allows you to interact with the ECU. It takes the place of the EEPROM chip while you are making your changes on the dyno/street. After you have your car tuned/running the way you want it. That is when you take the BIN file from Crome, eCtune, SManager, Uber and burn it to your EEPROM chip.

Keep doing your research, you'll catch on after a bit more reading. Here are a few good links to Read.

PGMFI
Moates
Xenocron
Phearable

Read all of these links then come back and ask anything that is still foggy.

& to Informed DIY tuning.

Neptune too

Only systems I would use is Neptune, Hondata, and EcTune.
