Default d16y8 turbo or b18b turbo

right now i have a 97 ex with the stock d16y8 with a drag gen 3 turbo kit. im debating on keeping the sohc and building it or swapping a b18b and getting a new manifold and turboing that and putting it in my coupe and building the b18b later down the road.. what should i do, keep the sohc or swap a b18b turbo? please help me decide. this is gonna be a daily driven car and i need it to last but also wanna be in the 13's help me decide please!!! thanks

also what will be faster with a stock motor? my d16y8 at 7psi or a b18b at 7psi both in the same car

u know i am a d-series fan myself and i would prob stick with the d if i can have it built but with the ls it can handle more horse power stock. In the end it all depends on how much fast do you want to go.

And u can't really compare psi levels, u could only if both engine were using the same turbo. Generally stock d's are good for around 200 hp and ls could probably take up to 260-270 with good tuning

I'd build the D in a hearbeat. All you really need are pistons and rods if you motor is already in good running shape... and some new bearings to go with them. Can be done for ~$1000 total and then your D is good to like who knows how much power... probably all you can squeeze through that head.
